Caravan solar power seems low? Check these things first
A calm, practical way to separate a dirty panel from weather, shade, battery demand or a possible system fault.
Compare like with like
Solar output changes with cloud, season, sun angle, temperature and time of day. Compare readings under similar conditions before deciding the system has deteriorated.
Look for shade and surface contamination
A vent, branch, aerial or even a small patch of heavy contamination can shade part of a panel. Inspect only from a safe position and clear loose material without climbing onto the roof.
Consider what the battery is doing
A controller may reduce charging when a battery is full, while appliances can change the figures you see. Note battery state, loads and controller messages rather than relying on one number.
Clean safely, then observe
If the panel is visibly dirty, arrange a gentle clean and compare performance again in similar sunlight. Before-and-after photos and controller readings make any later technical conversation more useful.
Know when to stop
Damaged cables, hot components, error messages, water ingress or persistent poor output need an appropriately qualified technician. RoamCare cleaning does not include electrical diagnosis or repair.
