The pre-trip caravan care checklist
A straightforward exterior, solar and awning check before your next New Zealand caravan trip.
Start outside in daylight
Walk around the caravan and look for fresh damage, loose trim, cracked sealant, tyre concerns and anything that changed during storage. This is an observation check—not a substitute for qualified servicing.
Check the solar-panel surface
From a safe ground-level position, look for heavy dirt, leaves and bird droppings. Arrange appropriate cleaning if needed; never climb onto the roof without the correct access system and manufacturer guidance.
Open and inspect the awning
Choose calm weather, extend it carefully and check the fabric, seams and moving parts. Make sure it is completely dry before packing it away.
Clean windows with compatible products
Use a soft cloth and a cleaner suitable for acrylic caravan windows. Household glass products can contain ingredients that are unsuitable for some plastics.
Book specialist work early
Gas, electrical, braking, structural, leak and roof-access work sit outside RoamCare’s standard cleaning scope and should go to appropriately qualified technicians.
